Red indicates higher expression in females, while blue indicates higher expression in males. Common and rare variants in NTC genes associated with particularly SZ and ASD are enriched in clusters with female-biased expression in the anterior cingulate cortex (MFC) and orbital frontal cortex (OFC) and male-biased expression in striatum (STR) during prenatal development. SZ MWAS risk genes cluster with genes expressed with female-biased MD (mediodorsal nucleus of thalamus) in childhood.
